In a recent case in the NSW Supreme Court about whether or not a neighbour had a right of way over some adjoining land the court awarded damages to the successful party for "Slander of Title".

 

 

 

This was done because the unsuccessful party made what turned out to be untrue allegations about the existence of a right of carriageway - those allegations led to a purchaser terminating their contract to buy the land.  The seller of the land suffered losses as a result of the sale falling through and was awarded damages for the losses under the head of Slander of Title.
